KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensures safety, health and environmental standards are met throughout the operation.
Provides operating direction for the Apapa Container Terminal, ensuring that productivity and efficiency standards are met in conjunction with the terminal COO.
Directs activities of Operations staff engaged in stevedoring, gate operations, yard operations, vessel planning, and support activities.
Sets goals and objectives for the operations department.
Analyzes performance statistics and trends in order to identify areas for improvement.
Ensures good communications between Maintenance and Operations to minimize equipment downtime.
Creates and manages the operations budget.
Ensures procedures are in place to correct service failures in loading and discharging vessels.
Ensures the purchase of appropriate equipment/materials for stevedoring vessels.
Oversees the appropriate staffing levels in Operations, including hiring and promoting, within projected manpower plan.
YOUR PROFILE
A good University Degree
Must have a strong operational background – international container terminal experience or experience in multiple container terminals at various management levels.
Must have spent significant time working as a shift manager – hands on experience is highly valued.
A strong drive for continuous improvement
An ability to mentor and coach others
Promotability is an advantage.
Cultural understanding is an advantage.
Well developed English; oral, written communications and report writing skills
Ability to work under pressure, anticipates potential problems, diagnose, evaluate and resolve problems in order to meet operational performance objectives and deadlines.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Umbilicals system will be a standalone package supplied to the project under an EPC type contract from an international Vendor including in-country fabrication of some equipment with subsequent offshore installation by others. The umbilical package will also include onshore precomm. and support for offshore precomm. activities. During project phases (till FID) the “HEAD OF UMBILICALS PACKAGE” essential missions will be as follows:
During FEED stage of project, the “HEAD OF UMBILICALS PACKAGE” will be involved in the coordination of the technical aspects and FEED progress follow-up for the Project Umbilicals providing in particular the following:
ACTIVITIES
. Assist the UFR Package Manager in the clear definition of the contract exhibits and in particular the Scope of Work (exhibit A). Ensure the scope of work is cascaded into Project Particular Specification (PPS) of exhibit E with no contradiction between the umbilicals package contract exhibits.
2. During FEED and together with Engineering Managers, ensure design consistency and continuity throughout the Umbilicals facilities interfaces (with FPSO package, SPS package, offshore installation and precomm. / comm..)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The candidate will be graduated with a MSc in engineering that relates to industry at large and preferably to Petroleum industry activities (such as Mechanical Engineering, Wells & Drilling Engineering, Controls, Ocean & Subsea Engineering, preferred) ; certified copy of diploma with grade shall be provided ; ideally the candidate will be also a chartered Engineer (such as CEng MICE) ; his education will have been complemented by professional trainings during his past professional experience. Pending professional experience, candidate a Bachelors Degree (BSc) in Engineering will be also given consideration for the position.
- The candidate will have 5 to 10 years experience in the industry (although preferably with practice of Oil & Gas industry for offshore and subsea works) as project engineer with responsibilities including small team management and construction / fabrication site experience ; he will also have knowledge of international design codes / standards.
